Different types of compressors – definitions

The two main classification of Air Compressor are:

01) positive displacement

02) Dynamic.

Here you can find below details of each type of description.

01) positive displacement type air > Compressor.

Positive displacement compressor types are those of the mechanical displace a fixed volume of air at a lower volume. The constant volume can be delivered by compressor if operated at fixed speed will be. The delivery pressure is determined by the system. If the consumption of air, then the discharge pressure falls below the cut-off pressure and compressor works on the loading conditions.

These types of air > Compressor further classified as

A) Reciprocating Air Compressor.

In this kind is generated by the compressed air and forth movement of the piston in the cylinder (compression area). Every movement expresses a certain amount of air at a certain pressure. Single-stage, two-stage or multi-stage and single acting or double acting is the further classification of Reciprocating Air Compressor. A sort of Vertical Air > Compressor use for the application of compressed air ranging from 50 to 150 m CF and the Horizontal Balance Type is best for the application ranges from 200 to 5000 m³ / min

B) Rotary Air Compressor.

In this way the air will be compressed by two rotating rotors or inter-company integration. Depending on the type of construction rotary compressor can be further classified as (a) screw compressor (b) Rotary Vane Pumps > Compressor.

(a) screw compressor.

The air is between two rotating screw compressed (male & female screw) and housing. The compression was carried out gradually reducing the space between these two parts.

(b) rotary vane compressor.

Air is compressed between the housing and rotating the rotor by means of movable blades. This type of Air Compressor can continue as a single-or double-ranked Stage Stage Rotary Air> Compressor.

02) Dynamic Air Compressor.

Convey the dynamic type Air Compressors mechanical speed in the air. This action is produced by the rotating impeller at high speed in a closed housing. The air is gradually reduced to a forced volume. The volume flow is reversed, with the pressure differential varies over the compressor.

This type of compressor is further classified as (a) Centrifugal fanAir Compressor (b) Axial-Flow Air Compressor (c) Roots blower compressor.

(a) Centrifugal Air Compressor.

In a centrifugal fan Air compressor has an impeller mounted on a shaft and disposed within the housing comprising an inlet channel, a spiral and a diffuser. The velocity of the air to convey through the high speed of the impeller rotation. The diffuser surrounding the impeller and act to convert the KineticEnergy into potential energy in the air with a higher pressure.

(b) Axial-Flow Air Compressor.

The Axial Flow Type Air Compressor is essentially a large capacity, high-speed machine with characteristics very different from the centrifugal compressor. Each phase consists of two blade row, row, and rotating to the next line of the blade is stationary. The rotor blades impart, speed and pressure on the air as the engineturns, where the transformed speed blades in paper printing.

(c) Roots blower compressor.

This type is usually called as a blower. The discharge pressure of this type of machine is replaced, is very low. The discharge pressure of 1 bar in the single-phase and can be obtained at a pressure of 2. 2 Bar has been preserved by Double Stage. The ultimate pressure achieved by two rotors that rotate the separate parallel axis and in opposite directions. This is the examplethe positive displacement type compressor Rotary Air Compressor.
